What are the major compressor parts of both types of air compressors?

compressor parts can be as complicated as a car engine when a reciprocating air compressor is used. Air is sucked into the cylinder when the piston travels towards bottom dead center. As the piston goes up special one way valves let in the compressed air into a special tank where the air is stored at high pressure. At the minimum, a reciprocating pump required a crankshaft, one or more pistons and one or more connecting rods, cylinders and the cylinder head where one way valves let air pass on one direction only. Rotary pumps are much more simpler, for example the active component of centrifugal pump only consists of one rotating piece the impeller. The housing of the pump, called the volute because of its shape, takes an active role in compressing the air. Because of the simplicity of rotary pumps, it is gaining wide spread use all throughout. You may not know it but the leaf blower is able to produce large high moving stream of air because it uses a centrifugal pump.
