Exercise Can Help Reduce Upper Back Pain

March 29th, 2009 by admin

Exercise is one of the most important ways to deal with upper back pain.  You may be referred by your GP to a physiotherapist who is an expert in exercise treatments.  The physiotherapist may suggest an exercise programme to include exercises which will strengthen specific areas of your upper back and neck.  The main goals of an exercise programme are to increase the strength of your back, improve your flexibility, improve the way you move, and to help build your endurance.  Some specialised exercise programmes have rather fancy names such as; flexion, extension and lumbar stabilisation.  Whatever exercise programme you are advised to carry out for your upper back pain it is important that you follow any instructions you are given to the letter.
